Prof. Giuseppe Buja

Bio: Giuseppe Buja (Life Fellow, IEEE) received the ‘Laurea’ degree with honors in electronics engineering, specializing in electric appliances, from the University of Padova, Italy. He was Full Professor at the University of Trieste, Italy, and then at the University of Padova, where he is currently a Senior Scholar. He has carried out extensive research activities in the field of power and industrial electronics, contributing to the PWM techniques development, the electric drives control, the power electronics microcomputers applications, and the electric vehicles charging WPT systems. Recently, he turned his research towards the renewable energy sources grid integration. On the above subjects, he has published more than 300 journal and conference papers. He served IEEE in several capacities, including as the General Chairman of the 20th Annual Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society (IES) and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics (TIE); moreover, it is a Co-founder of the IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives (SDEMPED). Prof. G. Buja is the recipient of 2024 IEEE Richard Harold Kaufman Technical Field Award. He also received the IEEE IES Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award, and the 2016 Best Paper Award from the IEEE TIE. At present, he is a member of the Advisory Board of several Journals, and a Life member of the IES Administrative Committee.

Prof. Wengang Bi

Bio: Prof. Wengang Bi received his PhD from University of California, San Diego, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1997. After devoting his career on forefront research and development at Hewlett Packard Laboratories, Agilent Technologies Inc., Philips-Lumileds, and Intel, Prof. Bi currently works at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, as a professor. He has more than 20 years of R&D experience on cutting-edge opto-electronic and photonic materials and devices (DFB lasers, EML, Micro-LEDs, etc.) by MBE, MOCVD and chip processing for AR, VR, VLC applications as well as next-generation 400G/800G Silicon Photonics Technology and Product. PI of a number of large-scale academic research and industrial projects and published more than 140 peer reviewed journal papers. Lead editor of “Handbook of GaN Semiconductor Materials and Devices”, published by Taylor and Francis.
His current research interests include third-generation semiconductor materials and devices, colloidal quantum dots, Micro-LEDs and their applications to solid-state lighting and next-generation displays.

Prof. Hai-Han Lu

Bio: Hai-Han Lu received the B.S. degree in the Departement of Electro-Physics of the National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan, in 1987. He received the M.S and Ph.D. degrees in the Institute of Optical Science of the National Central University, Taiwan, in 1991 and 2000, respectively. He has joined the Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering, National Taipei University of Technology as an Associate Professor since 2001. In 2003, he became a full professor. And was promoted to Distinguished Professor and Lifetime Distinguished Professor in 2006, and 2017, respectively. His current research interests include FSO communications, fiber-FSO convergence, UWOC systems, and FSO-UWOC integration.
